Thanks to new technologies, the era of energy scarcity is giving way to one of abundance, U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), the ranking member of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, says in the Weekly Republican Address. Yet despite the brightening energy picture, there are still too many burdensome government regulations, permit delays and overzealous litigation. To take full advantage of these new energy opportunities, as well as face up to our energy challenges, including job-killing government regulations and red tape, Murkowski this week unveiled a ground-breaking blueprint that charts a path to make energy more abundant, affordable, clean, diverse and secure. "The ideas in my blueprint would create new jobs, generate new revenues, and slash our dependence on foreign energy. They would shore up our security and strengthen our economy. They would help us minimize the impacts of energy development and reduce the emissions that are blamed for climate change," Murkowski says.
