Leader McConnell Meets with Interior Nominee David Bernhardt

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released the following statement after meeting with the president’s nominee for Secretary of the Department of the Interior, David Bernhardt:

“I am pleased with the president’s decision to nominate David Bernhardt for Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior. He is a veteran of the Department having served in several important positions, currently as Acting Secretary. We discussed several priorities including moving forward with the Green River National Wildlife Refuge in Henderson, Kentucky, and addressing the infestation of Asian Carp in Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley that threatens Western Kentucky’s $1.2 billion fishing industry. David was confirmed by the Senate to be Deputy Secretary of the Interior with bipartisan support in 2017. I look forward to supporting his nomination once again.”
