McConnell Statement on Hurricane Florence

LOUISVILLE, KY- U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) issued the following statement regarding Hurricane Florence:

“Earlier today I spoke with U.S. Sens. Richard Burr (R-NC), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Tim Scott (R-SC) regarding Hurricane Florence and its impact on North Carolina and South Carolina. They briefed me on the devastating impact and loss of life during the early stages of this disaster and I assured them the U.S. Senate is ready to act when needed, along with the House and President Trump, as the federal government continues its efforts to aid the states affected by this terrible storm.

“We are grateful for the local, state, and federal emergency preparedness officials and first responders who are working to keep residents safe during this dangerous time. And for all of those who will assess and repair the damage after the storm has passed.

“Elaine and I continue to pray for those in harm’s way.”
