Democrats’ Far-Left Policies Broke the Country
After Four Years of the Biden Administration, Americans Had Enough. Yet Democrats Continue to Stand in the Way of the Commonsense Border and Economic Policies Americans Support.
DEMOCRATS’ FOUR YEARS OF POOR GOVERNANCE LED TO THE HIGHEST INFLATION IN 40 YEARS AND CAUSED AMERICANS’ FINANCES TO SUFFER
- “[T]he Biden administration and Congressional Democrats made a $1.9 trillion bet in the form of the American Rescue Plan. They lost, as it contributed to a surge in inflation that fueled massive voter discontent and Donald Trump's return to the White House.” (Axios: Democrats' $1.9 trillion bet that blew up – 11/10/24)
- Inflation hit a 40-year high under President Biden, surging costs on everything from groceries, to gas, to housing. (The Associated Press: US inflation at new 40-year high as price increases spread – 6/10/22)
- During President Biden’s tenure:
- All prices rose an average of 20.65%.
- Grocery prices, measured as “food at home,” increased by 22.32%.
- Energy prices increased by 30.54%.
- Gasoline prices increased by 30.50%.
- Electricity prices increased by 28.55%.
- Natural gas prices increased by 33.30%.
- Rent prices increased by 24.19%.
- Car repair and maintenance prices increased by 34.33%. (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics: Consumer Price Index – January 2021 – 2/10/21; U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics: Consumer Price Index – December 2024 – 1/15/25)
- Americans’ finances suffered as a result:
- Two-thirds of voters in November 2024 rated the economy as “not so good” or “poor,” and out of the voters who viewed the economy negatively, 69% voted for Trump in the 2024 election. (The Washington Post: Voter anger over economy boosts Trump in 2024, baffling Democrats – 11/6/24)
-
- Nearly 30% of all U.S. households in 2024 said they spent more than 95% of their disposable income on necessities such as housing, groceries, and utilities. “That share is higher, at around 35%, for households making less than $50,000 a year.” (CNN: Low-income Americans are struggling. It could get worse – 12/21/24)
-
- A majority of Americans in a January Gallup poll believed the U.S. lost ground on the economy under President Biden. (Gallup poll – 1/14/25)
-
- In 2024, 30-day credit card delinquency rates rose 10%, and as of January, was “more than double the delinquency level of the pandemic-era low...” (CNBC: A record number of consumers are making minimum credit cards payments as delinquencies also rise – 1/22/25)
AMERICANS WERE SICK OF DEMOCRATS’ POLICY FAILURES AND CONTINUE TO DISTRUST THEM ON THE ECONOMY
- “Many Americans say they do not believe the Democratic Party is focused on the economic issues that matter most to them and is instead placing too much emphasis on social issues that they consider less urgent. Asked to identify the Democratic Party’s most important priorities, Americans most often listed abortion, L.G.B.T.Q. rights and climate change.” (The New York Times: Many Americans Say the Democratic Party Does Not Share Their Priorities – 2/2/25)
-
- “The issues that people cited as most important to them personally were the economy and inflation, health care and immigration, the poll found. The kinds of social causes that progressive activists have championed in recent years ranked much lower.” (The New York Times: Many Americans Say the Democratic Party Does Not Share Their Priorities – 2/2/25)
- “Americans broadly view Biden’s four years in office more as a failure than as a success, with his administration doing little to turn around persistent negativity about the state of the country generally or about its economy.” (CNN poll – 1/15/25)
- Americans trust Republicans more than Democrats on the economy:
- According to a June CNN poll, Americans identify more with the Republican Party’s views on the economy and taxes than the Democrat Party’s by a seven-point margin. (CNN poll – 6/1/25)
-
- “If it was just this one CNN poll, that would be one thing. But take a look at Reuters/Ipsos… Republicans have a 12-point advantage when it comes to the party with a better economic plan. And again, this is after months of supposed economic uncertainty… And yet, despite all of that, the Democrats are down by 12 points on the economy. This speaks to Democratic problems on the economy better than basically anything that you could possibly look at.” – CNN’s Harry Enten (6/2/25)
- 73% of Americans have “little” to no confidence in Democrats’ congressional leaders “to do or to recommend the right thing for the economy.” (Gallup poll – 4/17/25)
AFTER FOUR YEARS OF THE BIDEN BORDER CRISIS, AMERICANS WERE READY FOR CHANGE – AND THEY SUPPORT PRESIDENT TRUMP’S ENFORCEMENT POLICIES
- Under the Biden administration, illegal border crossings hit record levels, totaling 10.5 million migrant encounters along the southwest border, including known gotaways. (U.S. Customs and Border Protection: Southwest Land Border Encounters – accessed 6/23/25; Fox News’ Bill Melugin: post on X – 8/20/24; The Washington Post: Trump vs. Biden on immigration: 12 charts comparing U.S. border security – 7/28/24)
- In December 2023, there were over 12,600 migrant encounters on a single day, a record for the southern border. (Fox News: Southern border hit by record number of migrant encounters in a single day as thousands flood into Texas – 12/19/23)
- Americans knew the border was in crisis and wanted change:
- 87% of voters in an August 2024 Fox News poll said the situation at the southern border was either an emergency or a major problem. (Fox News poll – 8/15/24)
-
- December 2024: “Expectations are highest that Trump will control illegal immigration, which 68% of U.S. adults predict he’ll do.” (Gallup poll – Dec. 2024)
-
- In a January CNN poll, only 31% of Americans approved of the job President Biden did with the border during his presidency. (CNN poll – 1/15/25)
- Several months in to President Trump’s tenure, Americans approve of the results:
- “Republicans lead on the issue of immigration. You see it here, CBS plus six, you see it here, CNN plus six, you see it here at IPSOS, even bigger, plus 19. No matter what poll you look at, no matter which way you cut it, the American public is with the Republicans. The American public is with Donald Trump and to a much greater extent than they were in term number one. And it’s not just on the broad issue of immigration, it’s on the specifics as well.” – CNN’s Harry Enten (6/9/25)
- 54% of Americans approve of the Trump administration’s deportations of illegal immigrants. (CBS News/YouGov poll – June 4-6, 2025)
-
- 53% of Americans say the administration is prioritizing the deportation of dangerous criminals, and “[t]hose who say this are very supportive of the program, and feel the program is making people in the U.S. safer.” (CBS News/YouGov poll – June 4-6, 2025)
-
- Americans trust Republicans to handle the issue of immigration more than Democrats (53%-47%). (CBS News/YouGov poll – June 4-6, 2025)
