Majority Leader McConnell’s Statement on Ambassador Robert Lighthizer

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released the following statement regarding President-elect Trump’s intention to nominate Ambassador Robert Lighthizer as the U.S. Trade Representative:

“Ambassador Lighthizer is a solid pick to be our nation’s Trade Representative. His experience and leadership in this area will be crucial as the President-elect has made it clear he wants to put Americans in the best position possible for future trade deals. And because of our work during the last Congress to pass Trade Promotion Authority, Robert and this administration will have the tools necessary to achieve these goals right away.”
